Are you re-living Groundhog Day?

January 5, 2017

Do you know the feeling? Month by month and year by year passes and you cannot even remember where you spent your holidays or what you did on New Year’s eve a few years ago. You probably live the same year again and again with no changes in your job. No transformation on anything insight, the kids become older and on every January 18th or so, you have given up on your New Year’s resolution to get fitter and change your diet?

Sounds familiar? - 6 questions you may ask yourself

  1. What happens to your hopes and dreams?
  2. How are you going to live the rest of your life?
  3. How will people remember you?
  4. What do you think people say at your funeral?
  5. What do you want them to say about you?
  6. Who do your kids see in you and what’s the legacy you leave with them?

So often I meet people whose life seem to end once they marry and have children. Then life takes over and a huge bubble of worry replaces everything. An endless repetition of the same day. We start to live the life of others, or the way we think we have to live. We need to have a certain house, a certain car, a handbag, twice a fancy holiday best far away, the latest gadget. And for that short fix, that short high, we are willing to suffer day by day in a job almost 80% of us don’t like and spend time with people we would rather run away from.

If we can’t run away, we make fun of them. We create another short feeling of superiority before we settle back in front of the TV. We watch how somebody ridicules him or herself or check out mindless you tube clips until we are tired and toxic enough to hit the pillow.

Living in a box

Robin Sharma says it so elegantly: “Most of us wake up in fear, we are scared and we are so frightened to leave the box. We work in a box, we drive to the office in a box, we eat lunch out of a box, we go home to live in a box, we spent 5 hours every night watching a box and then we die in a box, and we call it a life.”

Please get me right here. I fully understand that life isn’t one constant high state of happiness. However, are you fully expressing the genius you have been born into? Are you living your life? Or the life that your parents, your teachers, your friends, or society tells you? Do you live a life of choosing or is somebody else choosing it for you?

All you need to do is, to access that power within you, your full potential, that core, inner strength. Know what is good and right for you and create and live “the life” you so truly deserve.

That my friends, is my wish for you.
